Hello everyone ... it is me, Nancy, again.  Our dear Becky is still out of town, so I am still filling in for her.  The quilt guild hopes you are doing ok, Becky.  We are thinking of you and many of our other guild members that are presently having some personal issues going on.  Hope to see many of you again real soon!!

At the meeting, I heard several of you state how busy you have been.  I, too, have been busy but am trying very much to pay attention to  "Mindfulness".  The Utah Quilt Guild's President, Kathy, has been writing each month this year about this very subject.  I have also been hearing and reading about this subject in a lot of other places lately, too.   Kathy wrote in February's newsletter, "Living in the moment -- also called mindfulness -- is a state of active, open, intentional attention on the present.  Instead of letting your life go by without living it, you awaken to experience.  Mindfulness reduces stress, boosts immune functioning, reduces chronic pain, lowers blood pressure, and helps patients cope with cancer.  By alleviating stress, spending a few minutes a day actively focusing on living in the moment reduces the risk of heart disease."  How can you beat that?  Sounds pretty good to me -- enjoy the moment/present and it doesn't cost a thing!! I know I have to stop and tell myself that I can not do it all, run it all, be it all.  Sometimes it is best to let "things" go.  I have many times realized later, that it wasn't so bad after all to "let things go".  I am still a work in progress on this matter, but I am trying to be "mindful" and live in the moment.  Letting go of "things" can be very freeing and relaxing.

But on to the meeting ... which as always ... was SO MUCH FUN!!!  Again, my picture taking capability is a WORK IN PROGRESS.  By the time Becky gets back, I will probably FINALLY have it down pat.  Seems many phone companies will brag on their camera capabilities, but find out later they will say things like, "When indoor under lower lighting, using the zoom function doesn't always produce quality pictures.   Probably need to use the flash whenever indoors."  What???  I choose not to use the flash so as not to disturb the flow of the meeting.  I have chose not to use my regular camera because it doesn't take pictures fast enough.  Oh well ... so again, sorry for the pictures being not the greatest.

Marianne discussing the Block of the Month.
Many of ladies have been busy so far this
summer; several expressed still wanting to
make last month's block.  So the draw for
this month has been put off until next month.
That means there will be two drawings.

Marianne showing this month's
Block of the Month.

Jeanette has put together the blocks for the "Red Jubilee"quilt.
It is SO beautiful.  Sandra is so proud of all the guilds in her
area (Davis-North/Weber County).  Everyone one of the
guilds has made a quilt for the "Red Jubilee" event/show.
