March Happenings
The Syracuse Quilt Guild had a great month.  On March 10th, some of the members got together for a road trip to Brigham City to see the wonderful  Vintage Quilt Show at the Brigham City Museum.  Of course a road trip required having lunch, enjoyed by all at the Idle Isle Cafe and a quick trip across the street to the Idle Isle Candy Store for dessert.  And of course, no road trip would be complete without a stop at a local quilt shop: the Dry Goods Quilt Store in Brigham City where everyone managed to find a little something to take home.  Then on Tuesday, March 13th, during the regular meeting, members shared their own "Vintage Quilts" created by grandmothers, aunts and some started by a family member and completed by multiple generations.  Some were rescued from thrift shops and garage sales.  Every quilt tells a wonderful story.  We discussed how important it was to label the quilts so their history can be preserved.  Several wonderful quilts at the museum…
Crazy Kind of Day at the Syracuse Quilt Guild By crazy, I mean, lots of fun.  There was so much good information shared and a fun demonstration on Crazy Quilts by Margo.
Sandra caught us up on all the doings of the Utah State Quilt Guild.  Upcoming events include the Brigham City Museum Vintage Quilt Show starting January 20 - April 3, 2018.  The UHQS, Utah Home Quilting and Sewing Marketplace (formerly HQMS) takes place in May, All members of the State Guild get a 10% discount on entrance and class fees so you may want to get your membership dues paid up.  The deadline for entering the UFO challenge has been extended until February 28, so there is still time to take part in all the fun.  As always, you can get lots of information on these and other doings at the Utah Quilt Guild.
Margo opens the meeting and tells us all about the fun activities she has planned for the year including several fun road trips and lots of great projects and guest speakers.  We can all be looking forwar…

Welcome to a new Quilting Year

Our new President, Margo welcomed everyone out to the start of a new year and introduced new officers, Amie as Treasurer and Becky as Secretary.

Sandra updated the group on the doings of the Utah Quilt Guild.  One of the exciting new challenges is the UFO challenge designed to help us finish up those unfinished projects and win prizes doing it.  The sign-up sheets and more information are available on the Utah Quilt Guild webpage.  She reminded us that state dues can be paid on-line at the website and are due the end of March.

The State Guild is also encouraging the member guilds to donate comfort quilts to local police departments through your area representative (Sandra).  Quilts should be no larger than 60" square in order to fit in a presentation bag.  Quilts will be used by police officers in situations to comfort children in various situations. Syracuse has been donating to the Syracuse Police Force for a couple of years and Sandra related a s…
