Red and White and all things Valentine

Welcome and Happy Valentines Day Suzanne welcomed everyone and was happy to note we had some new visitors and potential members.  Welcome to Marlena Dover, Crystal Hale and our new Area Rep Marilyn Steele.
Our new Area Rep, Marilyn and Sandra told us about the fun coming up at Quilt Fest this year, including this adorable panel available for $20 that will enter you in a contest.  So much fun to use this panel any way you like to create something fun for yourself.

Door prizes and birthdays are always a fun part of our meetings.

News from around the region brings some sad news that some of our local quilt shops are closing up including one in Providence Utah and Daines Cotton Shops.  Sad to see them go.  Quilters's Attic in Bountiful is celebrating their fifth birthday with some fun specials.  Nancy said that Heritage Quilt Shop in the mouth of Ogden Canyon is having a Retreat Day once a month (last Friday of the month) from 1-9 p.m. in their shop.  Anita said that the Dixie Quilt…

January 8, 2019

Welcome to 2019
Syracuse Quilters are off to a great start for 2019.  "Madam" President Suzanne opened the meeting saying that since she was elected as President of the group, her husband now refers to her as Madam President.  However, she is a very warm and friendly Prez and talked about her plans for the coming year.  She shared lots of fun ideas and started in December with the Zinger Quilt Blocks.  Each month two members can take a package containing an orange "zinger" fabric and some black and white print.  They will take it home and bring back their block next month.  Later in the year we will put together the blocks for a Zinger Quilt.
Some of the other plans for the year include a Sew-In in May with place to be determined.  Also instead of a choosing a specific charity to support, each member may choose a charity of their choice to make a quilt.  There were so many great opportunities to support including blocks or quilts Fisher House, Cancer Quilts, Hero …

December 11, 2018 Christmas Lunch

Christmas Lunch The Syracuse Quilt Guild met at the Syracuse Community Center for a wonderful luncheon of Ham and all the trimmings.  Everyone had plenty to eat and boy do we know how to do desserts.  Yum Yum.

Christmas Gift Exchange This year each member brought a gift of one yard of fabric, either a one-yard cut, two half-yard cuts or four fat quarters wrapped and ready for gifting.  We held a Yankee Swap and each of us could choose a wrapped gift or steal someone else's gift  It was a lot of fun and everyone got some very nice fabrics.

Sew and Tell Becky modeled her Christmas tree skirt as a cape, skirt, etc.  A very useful project.

November 2018

November Elections, Ornaments and News We had a great meeting with Paula Darby showing us how to make the cutest snowflake Christmas ornaments, elections for 2019 officers, some wonderful "crazy" quilts and news to share.
We congratulate and thank the new officers stepping up to lead us in the new year.  Thank you to       Suzanne Roach - President       Nancy Marple - Vice       Becky Thomason - Secretary       Margo Faccini - Treasurer
Sandra updated the group on the doings of the Utah Quilt Guild and you can check out the website for more information.  The theme for next year's Quilt Fest is "Sew Bewitching."  There will be three contests with one using this panel available for purchase.

Sandra discussed a project making quilt blocks for Fisher House, an organization providing housing and support for families of wounded warriors.  You can make a 12 1/2" block from patriotic fabrics (Sandra has kits available for $5.)  Blocks will be displayed at quilt …
