Hello everyone ...

Another great meeting happened this month.  Lots of things were discussed:
- We have as a group made & donated 24 baby quilts (good job ladies)
- We are trying to make some quilts for the Syracuse Police Depart, but they have requested they be no bigger than 44 x 60 inches (can be smaller), and fit into plastic bags that our dear president Belinda does have
- We are starting to put together a Quilt of Valor, from squares that Belinda showed us how to make (Belinda has the squares that need to be put together if you want to do one)
- Also we are starting to put together a quilt as a group, for a prize at our Christmas party
- Our own very wonderful quilter, Susan, won a prize at the West Haven Quilt Show ... YEAH!!!
- So many of you brought tools that you had bought and loved or bought and can't remember what it is for.  It was so much funny hearing all the stories about the "tools".
- And we had 5 birthday ladies this month: Diane Jeager, Kathy Mills, Susan Bourgeous, Jeanette Sharp and me (yippee I turn 55 so can start getting even more discounts out there now!)

Now on to our picture portion.  Sorry if some are a bit blurred but you all are so proud to show off your quilts (can't blame you) that movement goes fast sometimes causing blurred pictures.

Let the meeting begin!!!  Yippee ...

Jeanette, one of birthday ladies, telling
a little about her background as a
quilter.  Her mother was a quilter, too.
In fact she told us when she got
married, she got 5 quilts.  Here she
is showing us a quilt she made
for her 20th grandchild.

Our first interesting story, by Becky, about
a tool to help make mitered corners.
Very fascinating!!

What a beautiful Lone Star quilt!!

Our wonderful Maggie, showing her delightful runner quilt.

But Maggie wasn't done by just showing us the runner.
She stepped it up a notch with showing us a king size
quilt.  She told us that she always says, "No more king
size quilts" and then like us all, she does do another.

The king size quilt of Maggie's was quilted by our own Diane.

Jeanette showing us a tool she has to help
make a mitered corner on a quilt.

WOW!!!  WOW!!!
What else can you say, except,
"Be so proud, Connie, of this gorgeous quilt!"
She informed us it has 2917 pieces.!!

OK, Marsha has convinced me I need to
purchase one or two of these cutting
tools/mat.  I have seen them always in the
stores and said to myself, "Why?"  But after
this TALENTED quilter discussed them,
I am sold ... saving my money for one!

Pauline showing us another one of her
sweatshirt creations.  She does such
 an awesome job making something
 so original.

Pauline told us she was given a bunch of Halloween
fabric and decided to use the square we learned about
this year, the disappearing 4 patch.  I LOVE this quilt.
But then I love Halloween and Christmas.

Again ... learning about tools ... well maybe not all tools.
We were stumped by this one.  Not one of us had seen
one like it before or how to use it, but the
assumption was to cut circles out of fabric.

Connie showed us the quilt she made with her
"Lunch Group".  There are 16 in the group and they
each made 4 blocks.  Then they would swap them
around.  How creative!!!  And what an interesting
quilt it makes.

Shelley showing us her "Jar Quilt".  I have
made a couple of these, LOL, but I like
her's a lot better than mine!!!
(Mades me want to try again!)

Carol showing us one of her sewing tools

Carol showing us the magnificent quilt she made!
That is such a beautiful keepsake!

Also she showed us a small tote bag that she
designed and made.  When she goes with her
husband to car shows, she doesn't want
a huge purse to carry around, so
made herself one that fits the bill.

Last but not least, our divine president
showed us a few of her favorite
 quilting/sewing tools.
