Happy Valentine's Day Syracuse Quilt Guild

What a fun meeting for the Syracuse Quilt Guild.  Lots of information sharing and a fun tutorial on making a quilted tote bag out of charm squares.  Our President Nancy sent around a get well card for everyone to sign for one of our members, Yvonne.  We hope she returns to health and sewing soon.

Nancy shared information about the upcoming National Quilt Day on Friday, March 21, and Saturday March 22 at the Legacy Village in Layton. Friday times are from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Nancy asked for volunteers and sent around a sign-up sheet for the event. Our  guild has several things we will be offering for sale and there will be lots of fun.  Everyone is encouraged to come out and support this fun event.

Marsha and Suzanne were our birthday girls this month and shared some of their beautiful work with the group.

Utah Quilt Guild News with Pam White our Area Rep
Pam White our new Area Rep for the Utah Quilt Guild brought fabric for quilt blocks for the "Booby's Quilts" to raise money for breast cancer.  You can get one of the fabric sets for $5.00 from Pam.  She also reminded us that dues for the Utah Quilt Guild are due by March 31.  For all the news going on in the State Guild you can check their blog at http://www.utahquiltguild.org/media/uploads/2014/02/01/files/2014_FebruaryBeeline.pdf

And of course our favorite part of the meeting is Show and Tell

Shelley showed a couple of darling Valentine's Day table toppers

Cathy showed us this cute little jewelry bag.  She got the pattern from one her eight year old granddaughter made.  Talent must run in the family

Barbara shared her stunning  quilt in shades of blue.  Beautiful work from one of our newest members.

What a cute tote bag made from upholstery fabric.  Just the right size for quilts.

Susan showed a quilt top she did for Diane's new house. Hope Diane sees her quilt before she sees this blog.

Quilted Charm Pack Bag Tutorial

With a little experimentation with some new technology, Nancy was able to connect her computer to a projector and we watched a YouTube tutorial by Jenny Doan of Missouri Star Quilt Company at  http://quiltingtutorials.com/ on how to make a cute little bag out of 12 charm squares and 3/4 yard of contrasting fabric.  After we watched the tutorial, a few of us stayed and put it to practice making a bag.
