Quilt Retreat June 20, 2014

The Syracuse Quilt Guild had a great day at My Sister's Quilt Shoppe in Logan, Utah for an all day Retreat.  The quilters met up in the parking lot at the Riverdale JoAnn's to make the trek to Logan at nine in the morning and the fun began.  After a beautiful drive up Sardine Canyon we arrived at the Quilt Shoppe ready to start our engines, I mean machines.  Throw in some great shopping, an outstanding lunch catered by Kneaders and some fun tutorials by the ladies at the Quilt Shoppe and you had a recipe for a great day.

The morning started out with everyone working on projects they brought with them and then after lunch we had a Jelly Roll Race where we all made a quilt by stitching 42 strips of fabric together, end to end (about 1600 inches total) and then stitching one end to another, again and again until you had a quilt.

Nancy did a great job of planning this event for the guild and ordered an outstanding lunch for us.  It was a day we'll all remember for a long time as friendships were renewed and cares forgotten.  We had such a great time we decided we better go back in the fall on a Saturday so more of the group could join in.  Save the date for Saturday, October 11 as you won't want to miss it.

Does it look like everyone is having a good time?

What a great work space Jeannette

A tutorial on using a triangle ruler to make this cute hexagon table runner.

Looks serious, doesn't it?   Of course it is; it's lunch time.

Cathy, Pauline and Mardell

I think she sold several of the Log Cabin Rulers after she showed us how easy it was to use.

Stormy finished up this cute bumble bee bag .
Don't you love the nylons hanging on the clothesline behind her?
Really cute aprons and nighties also hanging on the line.

And the winner off the Jelly Roll Race is  Chris.  Earned herself a $25 gift
certificate to My Sister's Quilt Shoppe.
Some of us thought we'd never finish.

Jeannette is checking out the process to use a bias tape maker to make fabric flowers.
I think we need to ask her to give us a refresher at one of our meetings.
Pauline's Jelly Roll quilt all finished.
Pam trimming up her finished Jelly Roll Quilt
Belinda making  some pretty pillow cases.

Nancy hard at work (actually not shopping)
Next month we'll hold our regular meeting on June 10 at 1:00 p.m. at the Syracuse Community Center.
