The Syracuse Quilt Guild started off the year with a great meeting.  Jeannette, our new President brought some new ideas and enthusiasm to the job and is looking forward to a great year with the Guild.

She shared lots of information and some fun fun ideas for the coming year.

She introduced Sandra John, our new Area Rep for the Utah State Quilt Guild.  Thanks to Pam White for doing a great job this past year.  We hope to see you again.
Sandra had a lot of information to share in State Guild.  One of the charity quilt drives selected by the new state President, Cindy Hutchinson, is to make quilts for Women's Shelters.  She will get more information on sizes as she gets it.  Right now she said she knows they can use crib size quilts and probably twin size quilts.  Also, instead of the "Booby Blocks", this year there will be a Heart Research Challenge using a pretty green challenge fabric, available for $4.

National Quilt Day - March 20, 21-2015

Jeannette had a lot of information and asked for help in getting ready for the NQD.  It will be held March 20-21, 2015, at Fairfield Village (formerly Legacy Village) on Fairfield Rd. in Layton.  We will be putting together a basket made up of sewing supplies and other fun things.  We also talked about some ideas for selling items at our booth.  We will be providing four volunteers for Friday from 1-4 p.m. and two on Saturday to cover the auction.  We will also need help in our booth and doing a demo block (3-D pinwheel block).

Diane Jaeger gave the guild three bolts of fabric to use and the group decided to use the fabric to make an Exploding Block quilt to donate to the Women's Shelter program.  Everyone was encouraged to take fat quarters and make the quilts.  Jeannette demonstrated how to make and Exploding Block from a Jenny Doan Missouri Star Quilt tutorial at Exploding Block Tutorial
