What a wonderful meeting, full of energy and delight as we  discovered our artistic side with a visit from Karlee Porter showing her "Graffiti Quilting."

Just a couple of announcements up front including the Beehive Shop Hop beginning June 2-6 and the Utah Shop Hop, June 3-6.

The charity quilt blocks were due today and we have enough to make a beautiful quilt.

Nancy made this pretty "You've got Mail" quilt from a Jenny Doan pattern

We love it Stormy
Stormy showed a delightful garland made with strips of fabric and velcro so you can take them apart and put them together with any number of combinations.  So much fun and a great gift idea.

Karen is working on this pretty hexagon flower garden as hand applique, very nice.  She took a class from Deonn Stott to make this adorable lamb quilt.  She noted that the class will be taught again at Quilt Fest this fall.
Very nice in flannel

Teri's very sweet mini quilt.

Becky made a memory quilt using her husband's father's shirts

Jeannette made this lovely floral quilt and included appliqued lace.

Quilting is Art with Karlee Porter

We were so thrilled to have Karlee Porter of Graffiti Quilting visit us.  She talked about her journey as an artist and turning that love into beautiful works of quilted art.  She shared her personal journals full of art work that she interprets in quilts.  Inspired by art graffiti she named her company Graffiti Quilts.  Visit her website above for more inspiration.  Meanwhile here are some of her beautiful works, some of which have hung at Houston Quilt Festival.

Loved the story with the quilt on the right.  We have all been there and it is still a very lovely piece, even with the bleach bath it took.

This quilt took a first place, such gorgeous detail

The front of this tiger quilt is done on white fabric and the reverse is done on black.  BEAUTIFUL
Wow, just amazing quilting by a very young "International Quilting Star".  Thanks Karlee

See you next month when we take on Kaleidoscope Quilts (known as Stack and Whack.
