Sweet Times at Syracuse Quilt Guild
No candy or roses but lots of fun and focus on hearts and paper piecing at the February meeting of the SQG. We started the meeting with loads of information from Sandra, our area Rep for the Utah Quilt Guild. Some of the great activities the state guild is sponsoring this year include participation in HMQS as "sack sitters" and the Ruby Jubilee including red and white quilts from all over the state. The new President, Kathy Porter announced that charity quilts this year will go to Hospice organizations so quilts from lap to twin size can be donated through Sandra; they are also collecting fleece blankets for homeless organizations. She also said that they are soliciting quilts for the family of Fallen Officers, Doug Barney as well as for Officer John Richey. These will be presented on May 5. There are so many more opportunities for participation in great activities with information at the

February Birthdays
Happy birthday this month to Marsha and Suzanne. Yvonne is doing such a great job of putting together the birthday gifts and added a surprise this month and when you pick out your birthday treat you have to answer a question.
Marsha's question was what time of day do you like to quilt and she answered "any time."

Suzanne's question was what was the best advice you ever got on quilting. She said to "enjoy the process." Love that advice.
Block of the Month
Shelley and Marianne are going to present a pattern for a block of the month each month and everyone who completes a block and brings it back next month will be put in for a drawing to win all the blocks that month. In January we did an Oriental Lantern block and Barbara won the blocks.
Shelley showed the block for this month, a cute little heart
Ruby Jubilee Quilt
Jeanette explained our guild's plan for making a quilt to celebrate 40 years of the Utah Quilt Guild. We will be making a quilt with Irish Chain Blocks alternating with a sampler block with quilter's choice of a 12 inch block. She will send more information to the group. The fabrics are a beautiful collection of red and white prints.
