 Syracuse Quilters March Meeting

What a wonderful turnout with new members and guests that brought so much excitement and fun to our March meeting.  Seems like there is a lot going on in Utah quilting.  Our Utah Quilt Guild Rep. Sandra, shared information of coming activities.  She said that Springville hosts a wonderful quilt show running from July 23 to September 24 and you can submit entries July 15-16.  She also reminded us that we can renew or join the Utah Quilt Guild on line and if you do it before March 31, you will be entered in a drawing. Other activities include a Heart Challenge with pretty fabric in blue and gray snowflakes that can be purchased from Sandra for $5.00 as well as Christmas Socks to decorate for Quilt Fest.

Tickets for this beautiful Opportunity Quilt made by Cindy Hutchinson may be purchased from Sandra.  The quilt will be given away during Quilt Fest in September.  For lots more information and to join or renew your membership, go to Utah Quilt Guild page.

Ruby Jubilee Quilt

We are coming along nicely with our blocks for the Ruby Jubilee Quilt with beautiful fabrics in red/white.

Block of the Month

Last month Shelley brought us an adorable little heart block.  It's so much fun to see how everyone interprets their block.  This month, Marianne demonstrated a very cute green Shamrock block for March.
So many "sweethearts"

Thread, Thread, Thread

Karen gave us a wonderful lesson on choosing threads, especially how to read all those crazy spools and selecting the right type, weight and finish depending on what you are making.
Karen may have a new career as a cartoonist

So many threads, how do you choose?

Hexies Anyone?

Belinda gave a wonderful presentation on making and using English Paper Piecing Hexagons in your quilting.

Clever method of cutting your hexies by using a strip, no
need for all the fancy rulers

Sew and Tell

Yvonne's friend Vicky showed this beautiful example of Hexagons using beautiful wools, beads and other additions to "paint" a picture on each hexie.
Yes Nancy, those are Minions!  So cute

Maggie made a beautiful Wedding Ring Quilt
Karen showed several examples of EPP, nice work
