January 2018
Welcome to a new Quilting Year
Our new President, Margo welcomed everyone out to the start of a new year and introduced new officers, Amie as Treasurer and Becky as Secretary.
Sandra updated the group on the doings of the Utah Quilt Guild. One of the exciting new challenges is the UFO challenge designed to help us finish up those unfinished projects and win prizes doing it. The sign-up sheets and more information are available on the Utah Quilt Guild webpage. She reminded us that state dues can be paid on-line at the website and are due the end of March.
The State Guild is also encouraging the member guilds to donate comfort quilts to local police departments through your area representative (Sandra). Quilts should be no larger than 60" square in order to fit in a presentation bag. Quilts will be used by police officers in situations to comfort children in various situations. Syracuse has been donating to the Syracuse Police Force for a couple of years and Sandra related a story of how a police officer was able to warm and comfort a child in a very stressful situation and helped the child calm down. They are very appreciative of these quilts.
Sandra showed us the beautiful Opportunity Quilt for this year and has tickets available.
