American West Heritage Quilt Collection May 2018
We had a wonderful meeting with special guests Diane Wilkinson and Carol Johnson bring a collection of quilts from the American West Heritage Quilt Collection. More about that later.
Sandra updated the guild on the upcoming events going on around the state and reminded everyone of the benefits of joining the state guild, including discounts on classes at Quilt Fest and prizes. Check out the Beeline at utahquiltguild.org for more information and on joining or renewing.

Western Heritage Quilt Collection
It was our great pleasure to have Diane wilkinson and Carol Johnson sharing vintage quilts from the collection. All of these quilts originate in the western states with their provenance carefully searched.
The collection has been housed in three different museums and is now settled in the Hyrum Museum.
Although this red/brown/black quilt dates to 1890, it looks very modern. The young lady who made this quilt started life in Kentucky, moving to Illinois and finally settling in Utah.
This quilt is a green thread cross-stitch on a white background made using a panel that was printed and sold in J.C. Penny stores. This was done by Beverly Lewis in Logan in the 1950's.
This beautiful southwestern themed quilt named Squaw Peak is done by Marva Dahlbach in 1994. Much of her work has the beautiful southwestern colors and themes.
This beautiful Yellow Lone Star is made by Blanche Young of St. George
Beautiful Celtic applique technique in this lovely quilt by Millie Olmstead
Utah Native Plants created by the South Cache Valley Quilters
Cute label on the back of the Native Utah flowers |
She's in the process of hand quilting this.
With many thanks to Diane and Carol for sharing these beautiful quilts and their extensive knowledge.
Next month is Picnic and Bingo.
Wonderful presentation....thanks Ladies!
