Quilts for Heros with Susan Roberts
Susan Robers visited our group to talk about a project very close to her heart called American Hero Quilts. As her brochure states, "American Hero Quilts were born out of the love and compassion of one determined Washington State woman. Her dream is that each of our injured troops receive a quilt through hospitals in Afghanistan, Madigan Hospital and other military hospitals, receive a "hug" of appreciation. These "hugs" are exceptional patriotic, heirloom quality quilts. Each is unique, created by many loving hands." She shared thank you notes and stories that were very touching from the troops who have received these quilts. If you would like more information you can go to
ww.americanheroquilts.com
or email at Helpinghands@americanheroquilts.com
Tips and Hints
Margo shared her method of folding quilts on the diagonal so they don't have creases from being folded.
Becky shared a method of cutting half square triangles using a "Easy Angle Ruler."
Susan shared using a wallpaper roller (small wooden roller) to "finger press" seams.
