Syracuse Utah Quilt Guild Meeting

Becky Thomason called the May 11, 2021, meeting to order at 1:00 pm. 

Introductions of all attendants and new members.

Anita Bingham held the drawing for Fat Quarters.

Marilyn Steele, Representative from Utah Quilt Guild gave her report.
Remote Fest is still accepting registrations through the month of May.


Quilt Fest is looking for donations for door prizes. They would like Art Show Baskets for Center Pieces. The theme is “Discover the Artist Within.” Orphan Blocks are also welcome as well. Volunteers are needed for judges in judging room. The Beehive Bulletin would like photos of our quilts.

Utah Valley Quilt Guild Fair will be one day in the Big Willow Barn in Lindon, Utah.

Springville Art Museum Art Show is coming up (info is available in the Beehive Bulletin.)

You can look at the virtual quilt show on UtahQuiltGuild.org. You don’t have to be a member.

Suzanne Roach UFO update for finished quilts. This contest is continuing from last year. She paid those that had finished their quilts and asked them to post photos in our Facebook website. We will continue this throughout the year and will have a drawing for any leftover money for those that have finished at least one quilt. She posted the list on our Facebook page.

Kathy Compton asked that we continue to make comfort lap quilts or wheelchair quilts to give to nursing homes at Christmas. Last year we gave 22 to Sunridge Assisted Living in Layton.

Becky Norager Bosen told us about a committee she is heading called Quilts for Comfort. They are holding a Sew-in on Saturday, May 22 at 2:00 pm. There will be a drawing for anyone who brings a friend.
 
It was suggested by Marlena that we hold a “Strip Party” in June. Everyone bring 40  2-1/2 inch strips. They don’t have to be coordinated. We will exchange strips at the meeting.

  • December - Christmas Party

 November 14, 2023   President Maribeth welcomed everyone to the meeting and introduced guests and new members. It was reported that the basket donated by the Syracuse Guild to the silent auction at Quiltfest brought in $150.   Amazing and thank you to Nancy who put the basket together. Door prizes were awarded and birthdays recognized.   The group voted to hold our Christmas Luncheon on December 12 at Chris’ Café in Clearfield.   More information will be shared prior to the luncheon.      State Quilt Guild Announcements:   Suzanne, our Area Representative gave an update on Quilltfest, including the fact that Quilltfest has been moved up to August 20-24 due to scheduling issues in October.   More details are available online at Utah Quilt Guild.org.   The guilds are being asked to perhaps donate luncheon table prizes for next year.   Also reminded that the Auction baskets must include only new materials.   They also need lots of volunteers to pull off a successful fest.  Syracuse Utah Quilters December 24 The Syracuse Utah Quilters gathered at Chris' Cafe in Clearfield for our annual Christmas lunch and get together.  It was a great time with good food, good friends and fun gifts for all.  A drawing was held for the guild quilt made earlier this year and the lucky winner was Lorraine.   Happy New Year 2023 Syracuse Utah Quilt Guild quilters.   Here are some photos from our Christmas Luncheon  and January Meeting . Our Christmas Celebration at Chris' Café in Clearfield.   Great Food.  Great Friends .   January 2022 Meeting Welcome Maribeth as our new Guild President We will be meeting on February 21st rather than Feb 14th        to have a “Quilt Block Painting Class.”          We will be doing a 12 inch block and the instructor will be sending out           Instructions once she gets a class list.  The guild is paying the      class fee for each student and we will pay $30 for materials.  Suzanne, our Area Rep, gave the State Guild Report highlighting: Remote Quilt Fest in April Rusty Barn Quilt Show – May 18-20.  The Utah Quilt Guild is asking interested guilds to provide quilts to hang at the show, for viewing only.  Membership for the guild is $20 due March 31.
