Syracuse Utah Quilt Guild Meeting
August 12, 2025
We were asked to bring baby quilts to show.
Pam welcomed everyone to our meeting.
Announcements:
Monthly Sew-in on August 28th and September 25th
9am - 5pm
At the North Davis Senior Center, 42 State Street, Clearfield
Bring a lunch, $2, sewing machine and extension cords.
Next Month's Special Guest, Nannette Holmberg, who is the creator of Chenille-It
will bring a trunk show and product to buy.
Bring your friends.
No Show and Tell in September.
The Aviary Quilt Show is at the Brigham City Museum thru September 27th.

Pam showed the Quilt of Valor quilt she put together from blocks made from members.
The Quilt will go to Lori's nephew who served two tours as a Marine in Afghanistan.
Pam showed our next group project, a raw edge applique flower quilt.
The flowers are to be done in pastels on a white background.
There will be patterns next month.
Finish and bring the blocks back by the November guild meeting.
There will be a drawing for the quilt
including those who contributed to the quilt in December.
Maria is gathering things for the basket we will be putting together for Quilt Fest.
It will include a mug, pin cushion, project bag, jelly roll, clips, etc.
Maribeth's husband made a wooden sewing machine to go in the basket.
Kathy has collected 26+ Comfort quilts from guild members.
Suggestions are welcome as to where they will go to.
Suggested size 50" x 60".
Garden of Quilts September 10th - 13th at Thanksgiving Point
Suzanne gave us announcements from the Utah Quilt Guild.
Quilt Fest will be October 7th - 11th.
Tickets for the Quilt Show are $5
Registration fee for classes are half price at $40 for Utah Quilt Guild members.
Classes are also half price for members.
There are almost 100 classes and/or lectures available.
Volunteers are needed.
Visit vendors free.
Bring Orphan blocks to donate to quilt fest next month.
Submit quilts to be judged (or not) by August 31st.
There will be a free beginner quilting class Saturday morning.
Suzanne had Opportunity Quilt tickets for $1 each or 6 for $5.
The Heritage Museum of Layton has a quilt show thru August.

Sheila made her first and only needle turn applique baby quilt.
Sheila appliqued these darling owls.

Nancy's flamingo quilt is so fun. Pam quilted it.


Lori made this buffalo check baby quilt for a neighbor.
It has Minky fabric on the back. She wraps it up to present it.
Paula made this cute Bambi and Thumper quilt 30 years ago.
The animals are appliqued with fur.
Jan quilted these two cute panel baby quilts.
This darling animal quilt was made by Kathy.
Kathy showed her beautiful quilt she had made and also her crumb quilt made from scraps
and then assembled into squares that she sewed together.
Susan showed this colorful baby quilt.
It is one of many she has made for her 22 grandkids and 7 great grandchildren.
She used a stripe fabric for the binding.
and donated for Comfort and Humanitarian quilts.
Connie's colorful scrap quilt was made from 4" and 8" squares.
A happy nine-patch flannel baby quilt. Pauline uses cotton binding on her
flannel quilts as it wears better.
Maria borrowed these pretty baby quilts back from those she gave them so she could
show us a couple she had made for nieces and nephews.
Anita showed her large beautiful purple hand appliqued quilt that she made.
It has a couple of pillow covers to go with it to someone her
daughter is the guardian of.
This Snoopy quilt was a joint effort by Janet and her granddaughter.
The back side was made by coloring on paper and then ironing onto the fabric.
Pam made this darling baby quilt for her grandbaby using a Deon Stott pattern.
Jeanette made this I Spy quilt in 2003
for her grandchildren to use when they came to visit.
