Syracuse Utah Quilt Guild Meeting

Guild President Ami starts us off this month.
Announcements
From the Utah Quilt Guild
1- The state is asking each guild to donate a red, white and blue table runner for
Quilt Fest. These can be done as a group or individual. Preferred size is
12-18” by 36-52”. These will be used as the fundraiser.
2- In 2027 for the state guilds anniversary, the are requesting a guild memory
quilt to be displayed at the Springville quilt show. These will not be judged
and can be any size, once again by individual or group.
3- Golden Memories mini quilts for traveling quilt show are due December 2026.
You must register on the state guild website, where you will find more information.
4- Don’t forget that the theme and challenge for Quilt Fest is
‘Red, White and Blue; Quilting America.” The quilts are due in September.
5- There is a glitch in the membership renewals. All memberships are due by
March 31st. Hopefully it will be straightened out eventually.

Rusty Barn Quilt Show (Also known as Salt Lake Quilt, Craft & Sewing Festival)
wants more quilts to display at the Mountain America
Expo Center in Sandy, 9575 State Street in Sandy, Utah.
It will be held May 14th - 16th.
They would like 20 quilts from our guild.

March 26th is the next Sew-in at the North Davis Senior Center
in Clearfield. The cost is $2 per person.
These Sew-ins occur on the 4th Thursday of the month from 9-5.
They also serve seniors lunch for a $3 donation.
Worldwide Quilt Day is March 21st at the Sandy Senior Center.
Maria showed what the 250 year anniversary of the United States celebration quilt
for the Syracuse Museum will look like. She gave out kits for the flag blocks,
fabric for the other blocks, and gave ideas and instructions for the other blocks.
There are a few blocks left to volunteer to make.
Please bring finished blocks by our next meeting in April.
Kelly from a nonprofit organization called "Give Me a Chance" in Ogden
is requesting fabric and notions that will be used by disadvantaged
women to make quilts and pillowcases.
She will pickup donations.
March 19th will be a sew-in at 2913 Grant Ave, 10am - 2pm.
Bring sewing machines and help sew quilts for foster children.
June 13th will be a Bazaar from 10am - 3pm. Set up a booth for $50
or come to buy. Admission is Free at the same above location in the park.
We had three guests come to teach mini classes.
Special guest, DeAnna, taught us how to resize blocks.
Guest presenter, Heather, showed us the Creative Grid Pineapple trim ruler she uses
to make Pineapple Blocks and other favorite rulers.
Jonique, our third guest presenter, shared photos of her sewing room
and gave ideas to organize our sewing areas. Sorry I didn't get a photo of her.
Sew and Tell
Marie has been making table runners for all the different Holidays and Seasons.
Jeanette showed a baby quilt she made for her latest great grandbaby
using a Disappearing Four Patch variation.
Kathy has made some fun table toppers.
Angy showed a fun quilt made from blocks her friends made for her birthday.
Suzanne finished a St. Patrick's Day quilt from fabric given to her.
She hangs it up on a wire on her porch for the holiday.
Kathy made this amazing applique quilt in a class taught by Jan.
If anyone has a better photo please send it to me and I'll post it.
Maribeth finished off a dramatic designed quilt using fabric
from boxes of fabric donated from former member Diane.
Pauline showed her large 9-patch scrapy quilt.
Jennifer quilted this striking quilt for a Cancer Treatment Center.
Pam made this beautiful quilt for St. Patrick's Day.
Even the back is as work of art.
Tammy made this darling bunny runner and found embroidered
blocks in a box she had put away. She took them out and finished the top.
She thinks it was embroidered by her grandmother in 1966.
Connie made two fall colored scrap charity quilts to donate.
Ami has a fun bunny quilt she made for Easter.
Our next meeting is April 14th.
