Syracuse Utah Quilt Guild

Pam started our meeting off.

Lunch was provided to us by Syracuse City as a thank you for the 
quilt we made 250 year celebration of our country.

Announcements

Next month we will have a Sew-in at the Syracuse Community Center
from 9am to 3pm.



Suzanne showed two of our comfort quilts.  Maribeth's husband quilted the 
yellow one.  The color for the Block of the Month is Orange.

Quilt Fest
Quilt Fest will begin the evening of October 6th and end on the 10th.
Debbie from our guild is in charge of Quilts.
The quilt we made for the Syracuse Museum will be displayed.

We will have two baskets for auctioning at Quilt Fest.  
Donations can be given to Pam.  Our basket will have a retro theme.
Mardell donated a small retro sewing machine and Maribeth donated a wooden 
sewing machine that her husband made.

Sign up soon for classes you want to take.
there will be a swap table for fabric, magazines, books and all things quilting.  

Utah Quilt Guild registration fees will be raising.
If you join or renew now for 5 years it will still be the current price.
Our Syracuse guild dues will be raising to $20 a year.

September 24th is the next Sew-in at the North Davis Senior Center 
in Clearfield.  The cost is $2 per person.
These Sew-ins occur on the 4th Thursday of the month .

The Utah State Fair is September 10th - 20th
Our 250 year celebration quilt will be displayed in the 
Pioneer Building next the the Natural Resources building.
Janet from our guild will be helping with the quilt and fiber arts exhibit.

Barbara asked if anyone would like to donate a quilt to be auctioned
for a Fundraiser for Safe Harbor in Layton.

There will be a Holiday Quilt Show and Auction November Tuesday and Wednesday
on the 10th - 12th, 9:30 am - 8:30pm at the Show Barn at Thanksgiving Point. 
$10 tickets for the quilt show are at the door or online.
 Money from the hand quilted quilts goes to IHC for Women's heart health.
Utah Quilt Guild members meet on the last Tuesday and Wednesday of the month 
to sew and quilt quilts for this show.

 Kathy made this pretty collage quilt 
and this darling Ann of Green Gables  quilt.  It took her 30 hours 
and will be given to her bonus granddaughter.


Jan has made a number of these fun quilts.  This one is for her great-grandson
She says she is going to throw the pattern away after this one.😊



Karen used leftover fabric from her first quilt to make this pretty smaller quilt.
Karen also made this cheerful quilt since last month.



This fun pumpkin quilt was the first quilt Barbara ever made.  
She never finished putting the binding on until now.
Barbara made this difficult looking table runner in Halloween fabrics. 


Susan made this beautiful quilt for her son's wedding.


Laurie likes making purses.  This one has such pretty fabrics.


This fun Halloween quilt was made by Kathy to celebrate the holiday.

  


After Teri lost her son she used some yarn she was given  
to crochet these three beautiful afghans for her and his siblings in his memory.  
Her son's favorite color was yellow.

   

Pam showed these quilts Anita made to donate to our comfort quilts.


 Amy did a demonstration on how to finish quilts with a scalloped edge.

 Syracuse Utah Quilt Guild Meeting October 14, 2025 Announcements Our next Sew-in October 23rd, 9am-5pm  at the North Davis Senior Center,  in Clearfield.    Bring your machine, extension cord, lunch, and $2.00 Next month there will be a Sew-in at the Syracuse Community Center on Monday, November 10th, 10am-3pm.   This will take place of our regular 2nd Tuesday Meeting. We will also be electing new officers for next year. As an incentive to attend the meeting the above quilt will be drawn for. It was partially pieced by Margo and Kathy finished piecing it. Pam will quilt it. The finished Quilt of Valor will be going to Maria's 90 year old father who served in the Korean and Vietnam wars.  Syracuse Utah Quilt Guild  Due to Veterans Day on November 11th our meeting was moved  to Monday November 10, 2025 The meeting was held at the Syracuse Community Center. Teri showed her Scrappy Trip Around the World quilt  and taught how to make the block at our Sew-in. Our Quilt Guild put together this beautiful patriotic quilt and presented it  to Salvatore Anthony Battista in a Quilt of Valor presentation. He is a 27-year Veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps  that served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars  and finished up his career maintaining  the presidential helicopters for Presidents Carter, Ford and Reagan Ruth from Quilts of Valor presented the Quilt on behalf of the QOV organization. Maria, one of our guild members, is the daughter of the Quilt of Valor recipient. His family attended the presentation.   Syracuse Utah Quilt Guild September 9, 2025 We had an amazing guest speaker, Nannette Holmberg,   the talented creator of Chenille-It Blooming Bias Tape . She demonstrated how to apply her Chenille-It to our quilts and had a trunk show of her many beautiful quilts. She also told us about her interesting background as a clothing designer  of wedding dresses.  Check out her web pages. Announcements Pam reminded us to wear our name tags so we can get to know each other. Thanks to Nancy for bringing a kit to give to one lucky person.
